League and cup issues were sorted out in the local bowls scene, as the season ended.
In the South Derbyshire Men’s League Division Two, Hazelwood escaped relegation by a point.
Their last two bowlers on the green were Steve Lightfoot and Andy Waumsley.
The pair were able to win their games to stave off relegation.
In the same division Belper Pottery finished in eighth position.
In Division Three, Belper Meadows had a good run of late away wins to put them in contention for promotion but a 5-9 home defeat to Chellaston in the final match meant that they ended in fourth.
Meanwhile, in the Belper Bowls League it was League Cup Finals week.
The Belper Meadows Club enjoyed triple League Cup success - and all within 26 hours.
On the Wednesday evening, the Doubles’ A team beat Allestree by a single shot in the Division Two League Cup Final to complete a league and cup double.
On the same evening the Doubles’ B team defeated Breadsall in the Division Three League Cup Final on the Pottery green.
Finally, Thursday saw the Meadows Ladies defeat Hazelwood by eight shots at Marehay to take the Ladies’ League Two Cup.
