Mike Burton and his partner Will Austin won the Easter Fourball Better Ball Competition at Ashbourne Golf Club over the Easter weekend with a superb 38 points to leave the rest of the field floundering.
The competition was restricted to 15 holes because three holes were closed due to the heavy rain ,which left parts of the course unplayable.
Burton, who is returning to form just in time for the new season, said that whilst both he and Austin had played well they were grateful that they chose to play on the Sunday when conditions were calmer as opposed to the Saturday when, at times at least, the conditions were close to unplayable.
In second place were Simon Knight and his partner Andrew Teece with 34 points. On the same score, but with an inferior back nine, were Andy Robb and Mark Emmet
In fourth place, again with 34 points were, Nick Birds and Scott Wood, who have just rejoined the club and are obviously enjoying their return to the Wyaston Road club.
