Squash sessions, run by professional player Millie Tomlinson, at Belper Leisure Centre deserve better support, it has been claimed.
Tomlinson, who is currently ranked 45th in the world and holds the British U23 title, hosts the sessions, which cost only £3, every Friday between 6 pm and 7 pm.
And among those giving them rave reviews is project manager Stephen Hill, who describes the coaching he has received as “fantastic”.
“I had been out of squash for five years and was a bit rusty,” says Hill. “These sessions are really good for the leisure centre, and yet over the last few weeks, only two or three people have been turning up.
“The squash courts are really under-utilised at the moment. But the centre has just started up two squash leagues and, hopefully, they will take off. Maybe it will even lead to the start of a Belper Squash Club, similar to what has happened at Alfreton Leisure Centre.”
Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend the sessions run by Tomlinson, who is also the current world university squash champion.
