GOAL! -- Sally Goodman scores for the second successive week for Belper.

Brave Belper were unlucky to fall to a narrow 2-1 defeat when defying the absence of four key players in their latest Conference North match in the Investec Women’s Hockey League.

Belper took the game to their mid-table visitors, University of Durham, and were rewarded with a 29th minute lead when Sally Goodman converted a sharp chance at the near post. The goal was no less than their positive play deserved, and the home side continued to work hard in the second half.

However, coach Tom Sherratt had only one substitite available to him and when his side began to tire, Durham took advantage, snatching the points with goals from Ellen Patterson in the 57th minute and then a winner from Rebecca Raby-Smith in the 61st minute.
