The Bush Healthcare sponsored Stourport Circuit Races last Sunday saw Belper Bicycle Club riders in action on a one-mile closed circuit in Stourport on Severn.

The course, which was very well-surfaced, included two hairpins and numerous bends and chicanes and encouraged fast racing for the race duration of one hour for all age groups.

Belper’s Simon Parkin was in the first race for the 40-50 age group, which was contested by a high quality field and finished in an excellent third place.

Bill Cotton, also riding for Belper BC, rode in the 60 plus race group and was part of a four-man group that broke clear of the field at quarter distance and then stayed away until the end of the race, where he was placed second overall in the final sprint and also won the over 65s age group title.
