Belper’s Janet Fletcher, playing in the Over 60 Age Group on the Badminton England Masters Circuit, has successdfully opened her domestic season.

She gained runners-up in both the Ladies Singles and Ladies Double event at Newcastle on Tyne , before going on to Gillingham last weekend and winning the Ladies Singles event at the Kent Masters Gold event.

This was an open aged competition, but partnered in the mixed doubles with Duncan Fraser from Sheffield, the pair still managed to win five out of the six matches , their only defeat coming against the gold medal winning Indian team, whose team included members of the full Indian National squad that competed in the 2012 London Olympics
