Belper HC completed a routine win against bottom club Worcester HC to set up a showdown with promotion rivals Harborne next week.
A first hat-trick from Damian Jarzembowski, two more from leading marksman Sam Dixon and strikes from Scott Marsh, James Gough, Chris Hall and Ross Duncan completed the rout as the Derbyshire side ran out comfortable 9-1 winners.
With an expectant crowd watching on, Belper were bright and immediately put their visitors under pressure. Short on confidence and quality, Worcester struggled to cope as Belper consistently threatened their opponent’s circle, getting the goals their performance deserved.
Belper stalwart Adam Bull said: “The boys were fantastic again. The momentum of the team never let up and we constantly looked a threat in front of goal. The new signings have really helped take us to another level.
“Goughy (James Gough) was superb again, he never stopped running. Pace is certainly a feature of his game and he’s added another dimension to our midfield. All our attention now turns to the trip to Harborne next week in what could be a six pointer!”
Belper travel to King Edwards VI Five Ways School to take on promotion rivals Harborne on Saturday (11.45am).
