Kickboxing club recognises students of the year

The Heanor Professional Kickboxing Association (PKA) club has been celebrating a very successful 2011 by recognising the classes’ achievements in their Student of the Year Awards.

Reece Allen, 8, of Heanor and Rachael Brentnall, 28, of Ripley received the awards to acknowledge the excellent standard they have achieved throughout the year.

Club instructor Neil Fletcher said of the awards, “I wanted to do something to recognise the fantastic level of commitment and dedication the students have shown over the past 12 months. I would have loved to give awards to every student but Reece and Rachael have really excelled and should be proud of themselves.

“Reece especially deserves his award as he unfortunately suffers from mild Asperger syndrome and with his hard work at every class, he has come on in leaps and bounds.”

“It was a very hard task to narrow it down to just two students but both fully deserve the award. Hopefully this will inspire other students to challenge for the title next year and make the judging even harder for me!”
