Buoyant Belper stretched their unbeaten record to seven matches with a dramatic, late winner in the Premier Division of the Midlands Men’s Hockey League.
Entertaining mid-table West Bridgford, Belper got off to a fine start when Chris Beastall gave them a first-half lead. The plucky visitors kept battling away, only for the home side to clinch a 3-2 win and snatch all three points in the dying minutes.
The result means they have now won five and lost two of their opening seven fixtures to sit third in the 14-team table, five points behind leaders Leek, whom they play away from home in a real crunch match this Saturday (2 pm).
Meanwhile Belper Ladies werw without a game last weekend in the Women’s Conference North of the Investec League.
