MARLIN swimmers went into the final round of the Four Towns competition just two points behind the leaders.
Held at Uttoxeter last Saturday, this last round saw Belper compete against Dove Valley, Ashbourne and Leek.
And after a fantastic evening of swimming, Belper came home with the league trophy as the squad rose to the challenge to win the overall title.
Head Coach Mike Brett was delighted. He said: “It’s the first time in over 20 years of entering the competition we have taken the title so this is a special achievement for the whole club.
“Congratulations go to not only those who swam on Saturday, but to all the swimmers who have taken part in the previous Four Towns events this year, they should be very proud indeed.”
Belper won the league trophy by an impressive 23 points to take first place with an overall 422 points.
Leek were second with 399, Ashbourne third with 388 and Dove Valley fourth with 373.
All competing teams swam well and Saturday’s competition was close at times which created an exciting atmosphere.
