Arc Leisure Matlock has been the scene of friendly compettion over the past two weeks featuring swimming clubs from all around Derbyshire.
The ASA-organised County Championships saw the Belper Marlin Swimming Club squS giving their all to claim medals and improve their PBs.
The event was well attended and the roof was raised as each club supported their individual competitors inthis wonderful sporting arena.
As always, the strength of the Marlin squad was apparent.
Many swimmers slashed their own times and came away with medals.
Overall Belper Marlin achieved 188 personal bests, 13 swimmers came away with first place for their age group, 29 with second and 25 were given third. In addition, 56 took fourth, fifth and sixth places. Special mention goes to Tia Millington, Leah Hollingsworth, Samuel Brookes, William Brookes, Casper Raynard, Joshua Horobin, Dominic Shrimpling, Sam Frost and George Henshaw, whose best positions were first, Amy Neild, Katy Dymond, Connor Osin and Michael Brett whose best places were second and finally Amy Hewitt and Robert Ainley who achieved thirds.
It gave the county ASA the opportunity to spot the swimming talent within the region so they can identify the Olympic champions of the future.
Many of the Belper Marlin squad are already stamping their mark.
