A magnificent haul of 71 medals and 154 top-six places carried the swimmers of Belper Marlin to glory at the Derbyshire ASA County Championships.
Backed by superb support from their fans and parents, Marlin did themselves proud over the two weekends of competition, which featured the pick of the county’s clubs. Head coach Mike Brett said he was delighted with the “swimmers, their attitude and the whole atmosphere around the squad”.
A total of 24 golds was won by seven swimmers -- Samuel and William Brookes, Katie Dymond, Casper Raynard, Dominic and Maddie Shrimpling and Joshua Horobin. Marlin also took 26 silver medals and 21 bronze, and the club’s heroics were rounded off by gold for the men’s 14-to-17-year-old 400m freestyle relay team.
