Number one teams proved exactly why they are just that when taking the honours with 4-1 victories in a couple of inter-club derbies in the Darley Dale and District Snooker League.
Bolehill Institute No.1 defeated Bolehill Institute No.2 to stay a point clear at the top of the table, just in front of Belper Strutt Club. While Edgefold Club Matlock No.1 beat their own No.2 team by the same scoreline in a mid-table clash.
Ricki Slack was in fine form for leaders Bolehill with runs of 44 and 38 to win his singles and doubles legs and also take the Viva Restaurant-sponsored award for the highest weekly break. Andrew Brough (24 break) bagged the biggest points haul of the night, though, after Martin Forster had taken the opener on the black for the vanquished.
At Edgefold, the in-form Rob Dicken gave the No,2 cuemen an early advantage. But Rob Muxlow (23 break) opened his account for the season to equalise before Duncan Harwood turned in a terrific display to win the next 82-23 and take the Mick Hodgkinson Transport player-of-the-week award. Andy Russell (36 break) made the game safe and added the doubles leg, partnered by Nathan Haymes.
As for Belper Strutt Club, they maintained their title challenge with a 3-2 win at Matlock Golf Club. Steve Bullock top scored in the opener before a late fightback, inspired by Nick Kay, who won both frames he contested. Alfreton Palmer Morewood also remained in contention with a 3-2 home success against Matlock Club. Andrew Beardsley and Kevin Rowland both edged tight legs, while Graeme Wood continued in excellent fettle for the visitors.
