Promising start at Carsington until the snow arrives to frustrate anglers

Carrying on from the excellent start of opening weekend to the season at Carsington Fishery, the water fished well until the snow hit it and access to the site then proved near impossible.

Once again, a mixture of newly stocked and over wintered fish were caught, many being over 3lbs.

One of the boats there had 40-plus fish to their boat.

The rod average for the opening weekend was 6.07 with 91 fish caught by 15 anglers.

The heaviest rainbow was 3¾lbs, which was caught by Mr D J Webber.

The Carsington Spring Open Competition is on April 13. The cost of entry will be £60 per boat including permits and boat hire. Email - flyfishing to book.
