Record number of larger fish at Carsington

This week has seen a record number of larger fish being caught, from 5lbs upwards, at Carsington Fishery.

The rod average for this week was 7.60 with 920 fish caught by 121 anglers.

The heaviest rainbow was 8lbs 6oz caught on a cats whisker by Mr Ibberson while the heaviest brown caught was 2lbs 8oz, caught by Mr Barker on a black spider.

A number of blues were caught but weights were not recorded.

The most successful areas have been Stones Island, Sailing Club Island, Half Moon, Millfields, Upperfields Bay, and Fishtail Creek.

The most successful patterns are black spider, minky, hares ear, gold head montana, cats whisker, hot head damsels, black buzzers, zonkers and diawl bachs.

Most fish have been caught on floating and intermediate lines, close to the margins.
