Ripley Running Club set a record last Tuesday when they sent 47 runners to the latest race in the Booth Decorators League.
28 men and 19 women completed the 4.3 mile race, a new club record by some margin.
It is testament to the growth of running as a sport in the UK, with ever increasing numbers taking up the sport, either as a great way to maintain fitness, or a step into the world of competitive sport.
Dean Taylor led home the Ripley team in 13th place, followed closely by Tom Powis in 14th.
Luke Beresford (17th), Anthony Davies (32nd), Andy Parkin (37th), Paul Manning (42nd) and Simon English (70th) made up the scoring seven from Ripley.
Fiona Alexander led home the ladies team in 103rd place. Cathy Cresswell (142nd) and Adele Adams completed the scoring.
Meanwhile, the third race in the Gritstone Fell running series was also a club championship race for Ripley Running Club, so 16 Ripley runners made the journey north to the Dark Peak for this challenging but scenic race. Luke Beresford was first back for Ripley, in 20th place. Dean Taylor followed in 23rd place.
Other Ripley runners included Luke Freeman (68th), Wayne Smithhurst (89th), Matt Jones (100th), Rich Hill (107th), Richard Phillis (111th), Phil Layton (138th), Fiona Alexander (152nd), Martin Harvey (153rd), Dennis Holmes (174th), Cathy Cresswell (195th), Joanne Howett (211th), Karl Tietz (237th), Esther Broughton (251st) and Jay Bird (282nd).
