Swimmers excel at DX open meet

DERVENTIO eXcel is Derbyshire’s elite training sqaud and they held their first short course ASA Level Two Open Meet in Derby over last Saturday and Sunday.

The event attracted swimmers from far afield as Cheadle and Leighton Buzzard, all keen to have the opportunity of achieving National and Midland qualifying times.

Marlin swimmers attended the highly competitive weekend event and once again proved their talent and development in their results.

Swimming against some exceptionally fast competition they achieved times and positions to be proud of with many medals and top places being achieved in their age groups and PB’s being smashed.

Poppy Fisher and William Brookes were outstanding in the younger age group (9 years) with Poppy taking three first places and three second places. William claimed five second places.

The Swimmers from Marlin were William Brookes 9, Poppy Fisher 9, Lauren Neild 11, Rachel Ainley 11, George Chamberlain 12, Elliott Stubbs 12, Tia Millington 12, Ellie Hewitt 12, Maddie Shrimpling 12, Amy Neild 13, Emily Taylor 14, Amy Hewitt 14, Connor Osin 14, Callum Bradley 14, Robert Ainley 14, Daniel Breeze 14, Ben Goodall 15, Leah Hollingsworth 15, Jonathan Altoft 17.

In this level two competition there were high expectations of the swimmers as they competed against each other over the 28 events.

All swam to an exceptionally high standard showing gritty determination to succeed throughout the weekend. Another pat on the back for Team Marlin!
