Top-of-the-table Belper Strutt Club suffered a blow to their title aspirations when suffering only their second defeat of the season in the Darley Dale and District Snooker League.
Strutt went down to a narrow 3-2 loss away to Edgefold Club Matlock No.1, thanks largely to a superb run of 49 by Richard Ferguson that earned him the highest break of the week accolade, sponsored by Viva Italian Restaurant. Crucially, Andy Russell also on both his singles and doubles games, while Wayne Shooter secured his fourth win in five games for the visitors.
Elsewhere in the Harriotts Sweet Charity Event Planning-sponsored league, after a heavy defeat against Strutt the previous week, Matlock Golf Club stormed back to form with a 4-1 home win over Bolehill Institute No.2
Keith Robinson struck first for the visitors, seeing off seasonal debutant Charlie Hodgkinson with the aid of a 22 break. But from then on, it was Matlock all the way as narrow wins by Jack Lynch and Gareth Johnson nosed them ahead and Nick Kay provided the icing on the cake with an 80-48 win over in-form Ian Peacock and a convincing doubles success with Johnson to earn him the Mick Hodgkinson Transport player of the week award.
Two other matches finished 3-2, with Matlock Club winning at Bolehill No.1 and Edgefold No.2 pipping Alfreton Palmer Morewood.
