Tournament victory for Kedleston GC’s young ace

Will Painter of Kedleston Park Golf Club won the Derbyshire Spring meeting at Matlock Golf Club on Wednesday with a fine one over par round of 71.

Will, who is a member of the Performance Golf Academy education and player training programme, based at Morley Hayes, played solid and consistent golf to defeat fellow academy

member Jordan Barker (also of Kedleston Park) by one shot.

Jordan had an up and down round including back-to-back eagles on the par five 13th and par four 12th holes which saw him hole his second shot. He finished his round with a four putt on the tricky 18th green, where two putts would have clinched him victory.

Will Painter is making a habit of winning events, having also won an Inter Collegiate Tour event at Wishaw Golf Club recently with a two under par 70.

Performance Golf Academy Derby director Nigel Furniss commented: “These were individual performances from Will and Jordan, who have both been working really hard over the winter months with the team of coaches at the academy. Both players are beginning to show some of their talent and potential.

“This is another great win for Will, who is beginning to make a habit of winning, a good habit to get into.”
