Belper Town have announced a packed pre-season schedule in preparation for the 2016/17 Evo-Stik Division One South campaign.

The Nailers will begin the new season on Saturday, August 13, with the Evo-Stik League fixtures expected to be announced in mid-July.

Before that, they will play eight friendlies, beginning with a visit to Ashby Ivanhoe on Saturday, July 16.

They will then visit South Normanton Athletic on Thursday, July 21 before a trip to Staveley two days later.

Kevin Wilson will bring his Nuneaton Town team to Christchurch Meadows on Wednesday, July 27 and then Coleshill Town will come to Belper on July 30.

Newly-promoted SkyBet Championship side Burton Albion will send a team to Belper on Wednesday, August 3 before the Nailers then face Ilkeston FC, who announced former Sheffield United and Mansfield Town star Paul Holland as their manager this week, will be the opponents on Saturday, August 6.

One more friendly is then pencilled in for Tuesday, August 9 but the opponents are yet to be confirmed.

Boss Charlie Palmer said: “I have got a list of seven games and the lads will go up to Sheffield for some team bonding as well.

“The players know and I know how important it is to have a good pre-season, I don’t think this club had a proper one last season, but if the fitness is in the bank we will get off to a good start. Pre-season is essential.

“I don’t think I need to set out my ambitions to my players because they fully understand what I expect of them as a group.”

Meanwhile, Belper Town have also announced they are to freeze season ticket prices for the 2016/17 season.

Adult season tickets will be £140 with seniors paying £80 and students (with a valid student union card) also paying £80. All season tickets will cost £10 less if paid for before June 30.

All are subject to the completion of an application form which can be found on the club’s official website.

The Nailers are also seeking individuals to join their media team.

A press officer, programme editor and a camera operator/video editor for the club’s Nailers TV channel are all required.

Contact club secretary Dave Laughlin at to apply.
