New record is set in 25-mile time trial

RENOWNED Battersea cyclist Mike Hutchinson set a new course record when he won the recent Mark Storer 25-mile time trial on the A25/11 course at Etwall.

The event is organised by Belper BC in memory of Mark Storer, once a star rider for the club.

There were doubts the race would go ahead following the very sad death of cyclist on the A50 in Hatton just a few days before but there was a good turnout with 107 riders from all over the country starting in a strong field.

The previous record stood at 48 minutes and 36 seconds but Hutchinson smashed it by almost two minutes.

Belper fielded two riders with David Wallwin and Jonathan Marshall.

David flew round the course with a very respectable time of 52-35, Jonathan finished less than a minute behind him with a personal best time of 53-01.
