Wintry day in wartime Belper

This picture shows the view from the top of Bridge Hill in Belper.

It was taken on a snowy day in 1941, and is, of course, very reminiscent of the snow which has covered the town during recent weeks.

The old-fashioned traffic sign on the left shows the sharp turn ahead.

The road, which leads from Ashbourne Road to the river and Bridge Foot, is part of the A517.
