Another Belper Town season is edging to a close and it’s time for fans to start thinking of who they think has been the star performer over the 2015/16 campaign.
The Belper News is launching its Player of the Year award this week, where readers can nominate their star player ahead of a presentation to be held at the Nailers’ last home game against Market Drayton Town on Saturday, April 16.
All you need to do is e-mail us your nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org with your vote by Monday, April 11 .
Our Nailers correspondent Sam Allsop has come up with a few pointers to assist you if you’re undecided:
The midfielder has only missed one game all season, against Dunkirk in the FA Cup, scoring five goals and setting up many more in the process.
You can guarantee the majority of positive things that the Nailers have produced this season, ‘Jonno’ will have been involved in some capacity.
Watt has been Belper Town’s most consistent player this season, an accolade made even more admirable when you consider the changes in the playing staff throughout the season, especially along the back line.
The passionate midfielder is a fans favourite who wears his heart on his sleeve.
His energy and desire were at the forefront of a run that saw the Nailers lose only once in 11 games from November through to the New Year.
You always know what you’re going to get with ‘Steady’ - goals, 17 in 23 starts to be precise.
Only Evan Garnett has scored more for Belper this term (18) and it is no coincidence the Nailers’ best form came when the pair were on the pitch together before Garnett headed to Kidderminster.
