Dave Hemingway, a founder member of The Beautiful South – famous for songs such as A Little Time, Perfect 10 and Song for Whoever, featuring the pencil case line – returns with his new band Sunbirds.

Sunbirds – singer Dave, guitarist Phil Barton, violinist/singer Laura Wilcockson and drummer Marc Parnell – released their debut album, Cool To Be Kind, in November 2020.

Dave says: “Although a lot of the songs have an Americana feel, they’re still about life in England.

“You’re going to feel a bit daft singing about pick-up trucks and low down honky-tonks when you live in Yorkshire.”

Phil says: “We’re just enjoying ourselves and expressing whatever we want whether it’s about love, longing, depression or Gary Lineker’s crisp adverts."

The band play Sheffield’s The Greystones venue on February 3, 2022. For tickets, see thegigcartel.com
