The 57-year-old, who shot to fame with Pulp in the Nineties with smash-hit songs such as Disco 2000 and Common People, has released a remixed version of Swanky Modes as a three-track digital single with his band JARV IS.

A spokesman said: “The original song, taken from the band’s acclaimed album Beyond The Pale, found Jarvis Cocker confirming his position as one of the greatest lyrical auteurs of all time.

“The track weaved together a vivid series of snapshots of an unfurling affair with customary candid detail and electrifying erotic charge.

“Dennis Bovell’s remix taps into that atmosphere, while forging his own, new take on Swanky Modes.

“Expansive, tender, yet laced with a thrilling edge, his musical reimagining of Swanky Modes nods both at the original track’s illicitness and Bovell’s own musical roots, as it takes the song into a new, truly original space with its haunting mix of darkness and light.”

A hybrid studio/live album, it features two tracks recorded during a live show in the Peak District.

Must I Evolve? and Sometimes I Am Pharaoh were recorded during a performance in Peak Cavern in April 2018.

JARV IS have also announced the rescheduled dates for the postponed May tour – which has now been moved to November – and added two new shows, including at Sheffield’s Octagon on November 12.
