The latest screening in the 2013-2014 Tansley Film season will take place on Tuesday, March 4.
The chosen movie is Lincoln (12A), directed by Steven Spielberg.
Daniel Day-Lewis stars as the 16th US president in a film that is set during his tumultuous final months in office.
The nation is divided by war and Lincoln attempts to unite the country and abolish slavery.
The film also stars Sally Field, as Lincoln’s wife, and Tommy Lee Jones.
It was nominated for 12 Oscars and Daniel Day-Lewis received the BAFTA Best Actor award for his performance.
This was an award, Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian believes was fully deserved as Day -Lewis created a “masterful central performance.”
Philip French also believes that Daniel Day- Lewis’ “towering performance”...” encompasses the great statesman who shaped history.”
Screening of the film starts at 7.30pm in Tansley Village Hall.
The cinema has comfortable, upholstered seats, high definition projection on a 3.5 metre wide screen and clear, rich sound.
Refreshments are available from 7pm.
No membership is required for those wishing to attend the screening.
