Three local filmmakers who were among winners of Quad’s short film commission have had further success with their films.
Adam and Joe Horton’s short film, entitled This Side Of The After Life, will be screened at the Raindance Film Festival in October, which also means it is eligible for entry to BAFTA, having already screened at film festivals in Prague and Toronto, and premiered in America earlier this month at the Life and Death Matters Film Festival in Colorado.
The Cake by Esther Richardson has been selected for Moscow International Film Festival and Rushes Soho Shorts, and will also be eligible for entry to BAFTA. The Cake is also one of the last two contenders for the Women in Film and Television International Short Film Showcase for the UK, and if selected, will be part of an international line-up of films that will tour the world.
Keith Jeffrey, CEO at Derby-based arts centre Quad, said, “We are really pleased for Esther, Adam and Joe. They have really achieved a lot with their films. Their success underlines the quality of Quad Shorts Commission winners.”
