Band set for Belper gig date

A DRUMMER and a funk band, a singer and a swing band, a samba guitarist, a sound engineer and a psychologist; what do they have in common?

One person – Mat Andasun, founder and frontman of the Mat Andasun Band a group of talented multi-instrumentalists who are appearing in The Top Bar @ The Queens Head to herald the start of the new season of music promoted by BelperMusicAndArts.

It’s been a while since Mat’s Band has been in The Top Bar. They were good last time - complex rhythms on the guitar, haunting fretless bass work held together with immaculate drumming and percussion playing. They’ll probably be even better this time. Their performances are long with virtually non-stop music, all infectious foot tapping (no, more hip-swaying) stuff. Accomplished and polished they produce a smooth set with varied rhythms of Salsa, Samba and Latino Funk featuring some really exciting playing.

This band is popular and quite rightly so, so come early to The Top Bar @ The Queens Head, Chesterfield Road, Belper, on Saturday, September 24. Doors open at 8.15 for a 9pm start and it’s £6 on the door to get in. Help us start our new season with a real beat.
