One of the top chamber orchestras in the country will be celebrating the New Year in style with a Viennese Gala at Buxton Opera House.
Northern Chamber Orchestra’s concert on January 8 will include uplifting waltzes, polkas and memorable marches from the Strauss family and other Viennese masters.
Soprano, Alison Langer will join the orchestra for classics such as Vienna City of My Dreams by Sieczynski, the Laughing Song by Strauss and the Overture from The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Following January’s concert Northern Chamber Orchestra will be back to deliver a Coffee Concert at the Pavilion Arts Centre on Thursday, April 28. Trio Magic will see NCO soloists play a brief but delicious programme of Schubert, Hans Krasa and Beethoven.
The two concerts mark the beginning of what organisers hope will become a regular feature.
Northern Chamber Orchestra is Buxton Festival’s orchestra in residence.
Tickets for a Viennese Gala are priced between £12.50 and £45.
