Get involved in lights switch-on

Would you like to be a part of the procession at Derby’s Christmas lights switch-on this year?

Derby LIVE is on the lookout for locally-based bands, dance troupes, performance artists, and/or other similar types of entertainment groups who may be able, and wish to be, part of the procession at the Christmas lights switch-on event in Derby’s city centre on Saturday, November 19.

The parade is a key and popular part of the city’s festive calendar and is usually watched, and supported by, thousands of visitors to the city, who line the parade route on the day.

Once again this year, Derby LIVE would like to offer this wonderful showcasing opportunity to performance artists/singers/groups in the Derbyshire area.

The procession will consist of an array of different performance artists, pantomime and Christmas show characters and, of course, Santa and will run from The Spot down to the Market Place at around 4pm. For anyone interested, they will need to be able to showcase their performance/skill/talent while on the move and, of course, be available on Saturda, November 19.

So, if you’re a local brass band, a dance group, majorette troupe, a group of jugglers, a unicycle team, or are part of an unusual act which appeals to all age groups, and would like to join Derby LIVE’s Christmas procession, they would love to hear from you.

To register your interest, and for more information, please contact either Katie O’Brien or Steve Widdowson on 01332 287339 and they will provide you with more details of how to apply and give

you details of our short-listing process (should there be a huge amount of interest). The closing date to register your interest is by 5pm on Monday, October 31.

The organisers are also looking for people/groups/acts who could provide entertainment, at various times, during Derby’s Christmas Fayre, which will be in the Cornmarket area from December 1-24, so if you are interested in this opportunity too then please mention it at the time of your enquiry and you will be given more details of how you could be a part of the entertainment programme for this event. Unfortunately, there is no fee available for any groups who are able to take part but expenses may be covered.
