Bach Choir to sing Elgar work

derby Bach Choir return to action on Saturday, November 19, with an Autumm Gala Concert at Derby Cathedral.

In the first concert of their new season, the choir’s members, plus conductor Richard Roddis, will be performing Elgar’s The Music Makers and Maurice Durufle’s Requiem.

The Music Makers is perhaps best known for being a work where Elgar’s includes numerous quotations from his previous and most famous compositions. It is a stirring choral work, a setting of an atmospheric poem.

Durufle’s Requiem is powerful, intense and also serene. It is a popular 20th century work that retains its appeal well into the 21st century.

The mezzo-soprano soloist will be Leigh Woolf and the concert will also feature the Derby Bach Orchestra.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16 (reserved), £12 (unreserved) and £5 for students.

They are available from Foulds of Irongate, Derby, on 01332 344842.
