A RELAXED evening of cool jazz and beautiful songs is to take place in the Banqueting Hall at Darley Dale’s Whitworth Centre on Friday, December 2.
The concert will be given by the Sarah Bennett/Curt Shaw Quintet. Sarah’s band has performed at jazz festivals and venues both locally and nationally, including the Brecon, Manchester, Cheltenham, Southport and Marlborough festivals, and has also appeared at John Dankworth and Cleo Laine’s venue, The Stables, in Wavendon, Hertfordshire, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Theatre in London, as well as for staff parties at Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.
Sarah is joined by three outstanding musicians: Curt Shaw (ex-Leeds College of Music and Guildhall School of Music) on guitar, Sheffield bassist Rich Keates and Manchester-based drummer, Dave Walsh (ex-Chethams and Leeds College of Music) on drums/percussion.
Expect a repertoire consisting of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra standards, jazz standards from the American songbook and bossa nova tunes sung in Brazilian, Portuguese and French and more.
Sarah will be donating her portion of the profits to the Whitworth Centre and doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets cost £7.50 (£6 concessions). Call Sarah Bennett on 01629 733759 or firstname.lastname@example.org for tickets. There is free parking, a licensed bar and disabled access.
