Folk rock pioneers are set for Derby show

Folk rock pioneers, pop stars and an inspiration to generations. Steeleye Span are all of these things, as you will find out when they play a gig at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on Saturday, March 16.

With a career that has taken in an astounding six decades, Steeleye Spanare not just a legendary name in British music but also a link to theclassic days of rock and folk music.

Contemporaries of the likes of Led Zeppelin and Fairport Convention, they have gone on to change the face of folk music forever, taking it from small clubs and festivals into the world of chart topping albums and international tours.

Now having established themselves live over the last two years as a six-piece, Steeleye Span approach this year’s tour with their usual vigourand the luxury of 20 albums’ worth of material to chose from.

Expect to hear many of the familiar classics next to gems old and new, all delivered with a burning passion and unrivalled experience.

The concert on Saturday, March 16 is in the Great Hall at the Assembly Rooms.
