Tir na nOg will play The Fishpond Ballroom in Matlock Bath on Friday, September 2.
Tir na nOg are Sonny Condell and Leo O’Kelly. They arrived in London from Ireland in 1970 and secured a record deal after only two days.
They spent the next three years playing folk clubs across the UK and also supporting the likes of Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, The Who and ELP across Europe and beyond.
Their songs range from delicate ballads to more rockier themes with forceful beats and faster tempos. Occasional use of violin and African drums adds to the occasion.
And if that wasn’t enough to tempt you along, the duo will be supported by the delightful Elly Lucas, the Derbyshire-based long term collaborator with David Gibb, displaying her virtuoso fiddle and vocal skills.
This will be an evening of quality folk and contemporary electric acoustic sounds.
Doors open at 8pm and tickets are £10 from the venue.
