THERE’S more tribute band heaven at The Flowerpot in Derby this week when Twin Lizzy strut their stuff at the King Street venue tomorrow.
It was 25 years ago last month that legendary Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott met his untimely and premature end, but the band’s musical legacy shows no signs of fading away any time soon, as evidenced by a number of Lizzy tribute bands out there, packing in the crowds.
Twin Lizzy are a UK-based Thin Lizzy tribute band, inspired by the magical, powerful music of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy. The members of the band pride themselves on the authenticity of their sound and look, recreating the power and excitement of a Lizzy gig.
Hear for yourself the accurate rock, twin lead guitar sound on classic tracks ranging from The Boys Are Back In Town, Cowboy Song and The Warrior to the strong Irish themes of Whiskey In The Jar, Emerald and Roisin Dubh, successfully capturing the essence of Thin Lizzy, one of the world’s all-time greatest rock bands.
Then on Saturday, the venue takes a break from its selection of quality tribute acts to open its doors to blues ace Larry Miller, showcasing his catalogue of original high-quality songs.
Miller is a rising star on the blues scene, moving ever-close to breaking through into the big time and his sixth album, titled Unfinished Business, was released in December.
You can expect tracks from that album and his older works to get an airing in this eagerly-awaited gig.
Doors open for both gigs at 8pm. Admission is £9 (£8 concessions) for Twin Lizzy and £10 for The Larry Miller Band. Gig and ticket details are available by calling RAW Promotions on 01332 834438.
