Peak Performance’s upcoming production is Hello Dolly but for one of the originally-cast players it will be Hello Babies later this year.
Kelly Gibbons was due to play a shop assistant but has pulled out after finding she is expecting twins in October.
The role of Minnie Fay in next week’s show will be performed by Jo Hutchesson.
Social worker Kelly and her husband Matt, of Hasland, already have a four-year-old daughter, Seren.
Kelly, said: “I chose to bow out of playing Minnie as I quickly realised my bump would be too big to conceal, I was upset that I couldn’t do it as I had really enjoyed it so far but it’s for a good reason. The cast were really supportive and happy for me when they were told I was pregnant.”
She has taken on prompt and photography duties for the production.
Show director Mike Spriggs said: “Kelly has been a real asset to Peak Performance. She has been a constant help with publicity and has taken charge of all the photography as well as being a really good addition to the soprano section.”
Joan Hopkinson plays Dolly, with Rob Hall as Horace Vandergelder, Alex Hayward Browne as Barnaby, David Hopkinson as Cornelius and Debi Alvey as Mrs Molloy. Musical director is Nick Stacey.
Hello Dolly is at the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield, from June 2 to 4 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £12.50. Call 01246 345222.
