The family-friendly Festé return to Derby for another year on Friday and Saturday, September 26-27.
The city centre will once again act as the perfect platform, through a multitude of exciting outdoor performance areas, to play host to the ever popular post-summer annual extravaganza of city-wide live performances and breath-taking acts.
Derby Festé 2014 will be produced and presented by Derby LIVE, Déda, QUAD and Derby Theatre in association with the Without Walls Associate Touring Network.
Since this annual cultural highlight started in 2007, Derby Festé has established itself as one of the best UK street arts festivals and has attracted some of the highest quality acts, from across the UK and abroad, to the city’s streets.
Some of the acts taking part this year include:
Faust presented by Bad Taste Company, an outrageous re-imagining of Goethe’s classic; Les Enfants Terrible presented by Imaginary Menagerie, an enormous, exotic caravan which suspiciously arrives in Derby complete with strange characters who will entertain, amuse and beguile; Captive presented by Motionhouse, a dazzling blend of dance and aerial work which is powerfully physical, emotionally charged and extraordinary; Something to Hold created by Pif Paf and Kevin Finnan, a beautiful tale spun on a thrilling new aerial sculpture which transforms world of action, metal and rope; The Next Level by Prodigal, breath-taking Parkour played out on an urban playground; Candoco with Two for C,choreographed by award-winning choreographer Javier de Frutos and inspired by Tennessee Williams’ Camino Real, which explores a world in a which a couple is trapped in a longstanding relationship, characterised by struggle and power play.
Also taking part is DJ Woody with Hip Hop is 40, a brand new audio visual DJ show which chronicles and celebrates all things Hip Hop, starting with the original breaks, the first rap records and through to party rockers s panning the 80′s up until today.

Stephen Munn, director of Déda and artistic lead for Derby Festé said: “Working in association with the country’s largest festival producer Without Walls enables us to bring a wide selection of the UK’s finest artists to the festival, and we’re sure that there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
“This year we welcome Derby Theatre on board as a full artistic partner which is another great example of the city’s cultural organisations working together to make Derby a fantastic place to live and work.”
Derby Festé was founded in 2007 to mark the opening of Westfield, Derby. This was followed in September 2008 by a second Festé event to mark the launch of the Cultural Olympiad in the East Midlands and the opening of QUAD.
In 2009, Derby Festé became a stand-alone festival for the East Midlands and since the first event, has had the ambition of developing into an annual event with funding from various public and private sector organisations.
In order to safeguard the future of Derby Festé, some performances taking place during the Festé weekend will be priced and ticketed. All other events and performances will be free.

Derby Festé is funded by Arts Council England and Derby City Council, with support from St Peters Quarter, Cathedral Quarter and Intu Derby (formerly Westfield Derby).
