The grounds of the National Trust’s Kedleston Hall will become a stage this summer for a variety of open air performances by award-winning theatre company Illyria.
The performances kick off with The Pirates of Penzance on July 15. An apprentice pirate born on February 29 learns he is contracted to the pirates until his 21st birthday, not his 21st year.
An evening of romance, music and sheer utter joy, Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare is arguably the greatest of all English comedies, and will be at Kedleston on July 29. Following a shipwreck, Viola is washed ashore in Illyria, a country where everything is illogical, delirious and completely topsy turvy.
The last of the productions will see Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox brought to life on stage on August 11. Mr Fox is surrounded by three mean farmers and he’s going to have to come up with a truly fantastic plan to dig himself out of trouble this time.
