Successful tour for Pye Hill MVC

Pye Hill Male Voice Choir has recently enjoyed a successful tour and concert and is looking forward to its next performance, to take place next week.

The tour was to the Croydon area, stopping at Windsor en route. The Saturday concert took place at St. Mary the Blessed Virgin Church, Addington, with guest soloist Vivien Easom (mezzo soprano) and featured works by Vaughan Williams, Quilter and others.

The second concert took place at the United Reform Church, Woking. Solos were performed by Bill Walker, Dave Braithwaite, Colin Dutton and Rosemary Jones.

Both concerts were well attended and in total raised £720 for local charities and churches. Further highlights of a very successful weekend included a visit to Brighton, a tour of London landmarks on the way home and the reception and hospitality received at the Ship Inn, Ripley, Surrey, following the second concert where the landlady and locals treated the choir and friends to free drinks all evening and the singing continued.

On May 18, the choir held a joint concert at Ironville Church with Rolls-Royce Ladies Choir which was very well attended.

The choir’s next concert is at 7.30m, on June 8 at Ripley’s All Saints Church.

Why not come and join the choir? Practice is at the Dale Club, Jacksdale, on Monday evenings at 7.30p.m. No audition is required. Both beginners and experienced singers are always welcome. A warm welcome is assured.
