Youngsters from the area will be among the cast when Derby Theatre Youth Theatre presents Ruckus In The Garden as its first ever production next month.
The magical comedy by David Farr can be seen on April 5-6, with performances at 7.30pm on both nights and an extra Saturday matinee from 2.30pm.
Derby Theatre Youth Theatre, led by East Midlands-based Junk Shop Theatre Company, in association with Derby Theatre, was formed towards the end of last year and the group’s first meeting and rehearsal took place in January.
The group consists of 50 young people from Derbyshire, between 11-18, and they meet once a week.
The group works with, and alongside, theatre professionals, in relation to the production and other theatre-related activities.
Ruckus in the Garden is a funny and entertaining look at the trials of being a teenager, with a modern nod to A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Christina Lydon, Derby Theatre’s learning manager, said: “We have a really talented company of young actors working brilliantly together and creating what should be a very funny and entertaining production.”
